About the wine:
The 2010 vintage in the Vouvray region was quite difficult to farm and to harvest – there was a fair amount of rain that made harvest bothersome. Spring was normal, and flowering was slightly later than usual which made for an October harvest.

At the end of September there was a major rainstorm which dumped 40 millimeters of rain on the region and forced some growers to panic and pick. Pichot waited it out a few days and started harvest on October 1st, ending on October 12th. Harvest was not dry and it was a difficult vintage to harvest. The fact that most of the producers machine harvest may have helped with a wet harvest like 2010. The resulting wines have a totally different texture than the fat silky 2009s, much more typical, with high-toned acidity. This will be a vintage to compensate the high malic acidity with a bit more residual sugar. Alcohols were down 1 percent and acids were up a gram.

Ratings & Reviews

90 Points - Jeb Dunnuck (2016 Vintage):
"The 2016 Vouvray Le Peu De La Moriette is a juicy little gem that’s perfect as a meal starter or aperitif. Made from 100% Chenin Blanc, it offers delicious aromas and flavors of lychee nut, peach, pineapple, white flowers and honey as well as an off-dry, pure, lush, and beautifully balanced style on the palate. As gulpable as they come, it’s going to be incredibly versatile on the dinner table. Drink it over the coming 3-5 years." - Jeb Dunnuck

90 Points - Wine Spectator (2016 Vintage):
"Juicy and friendly in feel, with forward lime, meringue, quince and pear flavors laced by a light ginger hint. Slightly rounded edges show on the finish, but with enough buried acidity to stay lively. Drink now through 2022. 7,200 cases made." — JM (Dec 31, 2017)
