Ratings & Reviews

89-92 Points & "Sweet Spot Outstanding" - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"This is every bit as fine as the Roncerets with a beguiling nose of red and blue pinot fruit and lovely floral nuances that continue onto the silky, pure and refined barely medium weight flavors that possess strikingly good focus and balance on the understated and impressively long finish. This doesn't have the power of the Santenots but as a study in refinement, this is exquisite." - (April 01, 2008)

90
Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound (2005 vintage):
"An elegant nose of ripe but airy red berry fruits, underbrush, clove and a subtle touch of minerality that continues onto the silky, pure and lacy flavors that culminate in a velvety and mouth coating finish. This is very pinot and just dances across the palate and is the embodiment of the phrase power without weight. A classic Volnay that is built to age but note that it is also one that is starting to shut down and will need plenty of cellar time." - (April 01, 2008)

90-92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2003 vintage):
"Bouley’s medium to dark ruby-colored 2003 Volnay Robardelle (red) is outstanding. When asked what had made that terroir stand out, Bouley replied that he believed it was because his old vines are planted in an opposing direction to the sun, resulting in no berries having been burnt. The wine explodes from the glass with sweet black cherries, blackberries, and rose petals. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, ample, and loaded with candied black fruits. Possessing a broad, rich, silky personality, this effort also boasts a long, fruit-filled finish. Drink it over the next 7-9 years. " - Pierre Rovani (April 2005)
