Notes from the Winemaker:

Deep dark brown color, opaque and viscous. Marmalade and prune aromas, bursting with flavors of ripe fruit, licorice and molasses. Rich and velvety on the palate, well balanced, with a long finish showing the wine's great age.

Grape Variety: 100% Pedro Ximénez; The grapes are laid out in the sun after picking until they are practically raisins.

A special selection from the best casks of a very old Solera of Pedro Ximénez, launched in 1996 to commemorate the centenary of the founding of Lustau in 1896. Production is limited to one bottling per year.

Serve slightly chilled, between 10 – 12ºC (50 – 54ºF) with rich desserts, cakes and pastries, or pour a little over the best quality vanilla ice-cream. This wine can also accompany a cheese course or simply serve as a digestive for the sweet-toothed.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The stunning non-vintage Pedro Ximenez Murillo is from a solera between 30-40 years of age. A dark amber color is accompanied by notes of scorched earth, figs, prunes, toffee, and marmalade." - Robert Parker (June 2005)

90 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"If you're looking for a wine that envelops your palate with sweet, concentrated, dried Muscat and fruitcake flavors, this is for you. Full, ultrarich and smooth, it's almost too much, but the acidity saves the day on the finish. Very long aftertaste. Drink now. 292 cases made." –BS (Dec 15, 1998)

Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Thick and sweet, yet shows some verve and finishes clean. Raisin, caramel and fig are the flavor highlights. A touch hot on the finish. Drink now. 100 cases imported." –BS (2006)
