Notes from the Winemaker:

Frank Family Vineyards 2008 Napa Valley Zinfandel is dark and rich in color, reminiscent of violets. This classic Zinfandel leads with sweet blackberry jam, white and black pepper and clove spice. Further opulence emerges as layers of black cherry, blueberry and Asian spice are exposed. The palate is big, bold and ripe with juicy brambleberry and warm plum pudding, supported by integrated tannin and spice, giving a full mid palate and setting the stage for the long supple finish.

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Rich and extravagant, but that's part of the appeal, offering aromas of black cherry and mocha-tinged oak, with plush but complex flavors of blackberry cobbler, cinnamon and zesty spice. Drink now through 2016. 5,837 cases made." –TF (Jun 30, 2011)

91 Points - Wine & Spirits Magazine (2007 vintage):

"This wine's succulent blueberry and bright black cherry flavors turn savory as they meld into the tannin. Its firm structure and zinny-floral character make it a clean rather than heavy zin, suited to several years of age. (Aug 2010)"

91 Points - Connoisseurs' Guide to California Wine (2007 vintage):

"It may give a quick glance to jammy ripeness, but this very deep and very well-filled wine is long on very articulate Zinfandel fruit with berries to spare and a nice dash of spice. It makes fine use of oak and shows a trim of vanilla and cream, and, while fairly weighty and dense on the palate, it impresses with a streak of youthful pertness that keeps it long and alive and wonderfully vital throughout. (Jan 2010)"
