Tasting Notes:

Bright, charming notes of red plum, white flowers and black cherries on the nose. Evolving with air to cherry cola, cinnamon and mulling spices, wet stone and red roses. Precociously charming and pretty upon opening, evolving into sophisticated notes of clay earth, bergamot and minerality with air. On the palate, cherries, leather, pomegranate juice and cranberries. A sparkling line of acidity delineates the wine, and soft tannins impart a luxurious mouthfeel.

Notes from the Winemaker:

The Bohan Dillon Pinot Noir is an affordable world-class wine that brings to your glass the full spectrum of the Hirsch Vineyards site and shows the traditional character of pinot noir. The Bohan Dillon is produced using the exact same winemaking methods and with the same attention to detail as our other pinots, thereby ensuring a purity of fruit and site expression. The 2009 vintage is made primarily from the fruit of our younger vines, with an addition of fruit from our neighbors Hellenthal and MacDougal, located a stones throw from Hirsch on the extreme Sonoma Coast. This is a wine to be enjoyed for all its precocious charm and as a celebration of life.

Ratings & Reviews

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (2008 vintage):
"Light red. High-pitched aromas of redcurrant and strawberry, with a spicy overtone. Youthfully taut bitter cherry, redcurrant and rhubarb flavors are braced by tangy acidity. A spicy quality comes up with aeration and extends through a nicely persistent finish. Give this a bit of air."- Josh Raynolds ( (May/June '10)

90 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar (2007 vintage):
"Light, bright red. Lively redcurrant and strawberry on the nose, with complicating notes of zesty minerals and rose. Lithe and precise on the palate, offering sweet red fruit and floral flavors that are underscored by dusty minerals. Graceful and focused, with a deeper cherry note emerging with air. Finishes with very good clarity, lift and sneaky persistence." - Josh Raynolds ( (May/June '10)
