Notes from the Winemaker:
"A refined wine, well appreciated in the whole world. A beautiful golden colour and a great aromatic palette: honey, linden flower ("tilleul"), hazelnut butter, sometimes even chamomile or hawthorn. On the palate, a silky roundness. Long on the aftertaste, with flavours of yellow plum and gingerbread". - Véronique Boss-Drouhin

This vintage produced wines of various styles, some with a rather high acidity level, others offering roundness. The main factor has been the frost. The vines hit by this severe spring frost very often matured later, giving fairly nervous wines, whereas the plots spared by frost reached a more precocious maturity. Many beautiful wines in this multi-faceted vintage.

Site: a few kilometers south of Beaune, in the celebrated terroir of Côte des Blancs (Slope of the Whites).
History & tradition: Meursault is certainly one of the oldest villages in Burgundy. The camp of Mont Milan, above the present village, was erected and settled in Neolithic times (2,500 BC), before being occupied by the Gauls (500BC) and then the Romans. It was finally abandoned for the present location of the village built during the Gallo-Roman period, at which time the name Muris Saltus (Meursault) was given to it.
Soil: different types of soil are found: deep and colorful around the village, clearer and lighter at mid-slope and nearly white and very rocky in the upper reaches of the appellation.

Type: in barrels (25% in new oak).
Length: 12 months.

Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Fresh and elegant, this white delivers peach, lemon cake, floral and spice aromas and flavors. Harmonious and ready to enjoy, but should develop well. Drink now through 2025. 600 cases imported." - BS (Issue Jul 31, 2019)

92 Points - James Suckling:
"Some attractive, youthful complexity here with a very flinty, stony edge to the grapefruit and young peaches. The palate has a very succulent feel with a creamy layer at the finish. Drink or hold." - 25 Jan, 2019

90 Points - Vinous:
"The 2017 Meursault Village, which was bottled in October 2018, offers attractive scents of brioche, dried honey and orange blossom that seem to gain intensity with aeration. The palate is well balanced, displaying a fine bead of acidity and light orange pith, apricot and quince notes. The satisfying, fresh finish leaves a touch of ginger on the aftertaste. Very fine." - Neal Martin (Jan 2019)

89 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Aromas of pastry cream, crisp pear and lemon curd introduce the 2017 Meursault Village, a medium-bodied, elegantly textural wine with good concentration and depth, underpinned by tangy acids." - William Kelley (31st Jan 2019)
