Notes From The Winemaker:

Our fifth generation Barossan winemakers have revived the old vineyards but continue to dry grow, hand prune and hand pick; producing fruit with vibrant colour and flavour. Fruit sourced from our own “Jackaman’s” 60 year old Lyndoch vineyard, dry grown low yielding and extremely intense, as well as fruit from a brilliant 80 year old patch of bush vines belonging to one of our growers, is blended to produce this amazing, bold and complex wine.

Jackaman’s vineyard is Langmeil’s finest and rarest Cabernet Sauvignon, planted in the 1960s during the Cabernet revolution in the Barossa. This vineyard was lovingly tended by the colourful Barossan Arthur Jackaman, a World War II paratrooper, boxer and butcher who in retirement passed his small plot into Langmeil’s care.
Colour: Medium to deep crimson.
Aroma: Intense blackcurrants and blueberry aroma entwine with biscuity French oak, minty hints and savoury, black olive notes.
Palate: Bright, juicy, blue and red fruits flow onto the palate which is medium to full bodied. Briary spice, black olive and herbaceous hints adds to the complexity with a touch of oak sweetness and silky tannins, which lengthen the fruitful and velvety finish.
Cellaring: 2013 – 2025

Ratings & Reviews:

91+ Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2011 Vintage):
"Medium garnet colored with a purple rim, the 2011 Jackaman's Cabernet reveals forward notes of warm blackcurrants, kirsch and red currant jelly with hints of cigar boxes, dried thyme and menthol. Medium to full-bodied, the cassis and herbal flavors fill the palate and are backed-up by chewy tannins and plenty of freshness before finishing with great length. Drink 2015 - 2022." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Jun 2015)

91+ Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2010 vintage):
"Deep garnet-purple colored and showing pronounced notes of blackcurrant cordial, blueberry preserves and dried mulberries highlighted by underlying suggestions of licorice, chocolate box, sauteed herbs and game, the medium to full-bodied 2010 Jackaman’s Cabernet Sauvignon reveals maturing savory flavors framed by medium to firm, chewy tannins and balanced acid. It finishes with good length. Drink it now to 2020+." - Lisa Perrotti-Brown (Feb 2014)

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine (2008 vintage):
"Can a Barossa Cabernet be said to be understated? Especially considering the warm vintage, this wine is wonderfully elegant and restrained, revealing hints of mint, cassis and oak. It’s full bodied and dense, yet remains fresh, with a long finish that artfully balances firmness and softness, crispness and weight. Drink now–2020."
