Notes from the Winemaker:
The House of Lanson makes the difficult choice to declare vintages only in years that can truly be considered exceptional. 1904,1928,1955,1971,1976,1983 and 1990 are great Vintages that have gradually built the reputation of Champagne Lanson. Nowadays, Lanson is particularly famous for its collection of Vintage Champagnes.

•Blend – 47% Chardonnay, 53% Pinot Noir
• Chardonnay Grands Cru - Avize, Le Mesnil sur Oger
•Pinot Noir Grands Crus: Ay, Verzenay, Bouzy

•Dosage: 7g

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - James Suckling:
"This has seen more than six years of ageing in the cellar and has attractive concentration and nicely played complexity. The nose is as fresh as you'd expect from Lanson with all yellow grapefruit and lemon but some pastry too. The palate, meanwhile, has a refreshing sweep of acid-driven, lemon fruit and is super pure, fresh and long. A great-value wine here. Drink now till 2015." - (October 7, 2016)

92 Points - Decanter:
"It’s thanks to wines like this, that the 2008 vintage has attracted such attention. True to the traditional Lanson style, developed over 250 years, Champagne Lanson Gold Label 2008 is light, elegant and vibrant, but also long, persistent and full. The blend is 53% Pinot Noir and 47% Chardonnay all of which is sourced from Grand Cru vineyards. Crystallised white fruit, honey and nougat lead on the nose and palate, with brioche and cream to the fore on the finish. Pinpoint balance and extremely more-ish. Drinking Window 2016 - 2026"

91+ Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2008 Gold Label Vintage Extra Brut is a 50/50 Pinot Noir and Chardonnay. Fresh, lean and intense, this is a very elegant, pure and refined classic with a lovely mineral expression; it has refreshing lemon flavors in the very good finish. This is made in a lean and complex style. Excellent, although it needs a few years of ageing. Disgorged in July 2015." - Stephan Reinhardt (29th Jun 2016)

Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"Lanson’s 2008 Millésime Gold Label is bright and finely cut, with a good bit of energy running through the citrus and floral-infused flavors. Even so, the 2008 is a relatively open wine for the year that looks like it will offer its best drinking sooner rather than later." - Antonio Galloni (Jul 2018)
