The Estate:

Founded in 1932, this Cave Coopérative is located in the top commune of Pomérols, located between the garrigue of Pezenas and the sea dominated by the Mont St Clair in Sete. The co-op has merged with the Cave de Castelmau de Guers. They include 320 members and produce 55,000 hectoliters of wine (600,000 cases).

The Vineyard:

The members control 1,200 hectares of vineyard land (2,964 acres) of which 330 hectares (815.1 acres) are Picpoul de Pinet. Six communes are entitled to the name Picpoul de Pinet: Florensac, Pomerols, Pinet, Castelnau de Guers, Montagnac, Meze. The Pomerols vineyards stretch over vast sun-light terraces with clay/calcareous soils.

What Does It Taste Like?

100% Picpoul, aka Folle Blanche. Pale yellow color with green tints. Fresh and fine aromas  of grapefruit and exotic fruit. Lime flavors, with typical focusing acidity, are hallmarks of Picpoul. Our best value, this wine impresses novices and hardened geeks equally.

Known as “the Muscadet of the South” in France, this is to the Mediterranean coast of France what Albariño is to northwest Spain…the default wine for fresh shellfish & seafood.

Ratings & Reviews

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"These are two super, crisp, unoaked, fruit-driven wines, including what is often called the Muscadet of Southern France, the 2010 Picpoul de Pinet. This is a co-op, but a high quality one, and this fresh wine is almost the vinous equivalent of gin and tonic. It has notes of lime skin intermixed with other fresh citrus in a lively, fresh, very light-bodied, naked form. Drink it over the next year, preferably with shellfish." - Robert Parker (June 2011)

Wine Spectator Magazine:
"A crisp white, showing good zip to the apple and green pear flavors, with a hint of lemon-lime. Stony notes mark the finish. Drink now. 111,000 cases made." –KM (Aug 31, 2011)
