Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Smooth and rich, featuring cherry, raspberry, licorice and tobacco notes. Offers a dense tapestry of fruit and spice, balanced with a solid structure. The finish rings long and spicy, with a lingering freshness. Best from 2015 through 2032." –BS (Apr 30, 2012)

90 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Expressive aromas of plum, spices, game, fresh rose and underbrush. Spicy, supple and juicy, with nicely integrated acidity freshening the red cherry flavor. A ripe and showy 2007 without the nuance or energy of the terrific 2008 version. This distinctly warm-year Barolo is quite satisfying already." - Stephen Tanzer (Nov/Oct '11)

92 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine (2006 vintage)
:
"This starts out with sweet cherry, strawberry and tobacco flavors, before the massive tannins claim the finish. There's also a strong mineral streak. All of the elements are well-balanced, but just need time to integrate. Best from 2014 through 2032. 500 cases imported." –BS (Mar 31, 2011)

90+ Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2006 vintage):
"The estate’s 2006 Barolo makes a positive first impression, as a burst of fresh fruit informs the open, expressive bouquet. Gorgeous and finessed throughout, this relatively feminine, delicate Barolo impresses for the elegance of its perfumed fruit and its surprising accessibility at this stage. It will be hard to resist right out of the gate, as the wine is simply perfectly balanced at its level. As is often the case, the quality of a vintage can be deduced from the entry-level wines, and here that level is very high. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2024.

This is a superb set of 2006 Barolos from Massolino. The wines show a combination of power and elegance that in some ways recalls 1996. These 2006s will require time, but the investment will be well worth it. Massolino remains very much in the traditional camp. If anything, an increase in the use of cement (especially for the malos) and a greater reliance on large oak for the Barolo Parafada signal a move towards more classicism in the wines. These exceptionally pure, elegant Barolos merit special consideration." - Antonio Galloni (Feb 2010)

90 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"This shows ripe fruit aromas of cherry and blackberry backed by leather, smoke and teriyaki notes. Thick and smooth, it has a velvety, fruit-driven finish." -M.L. (9/1/2012)
