Notes from the Winemaker:
Born in the Cannubi vineyard of the Einaudi estate in the Cannubi area of Barolo at 220 m., positioned South South-East. The land is composed of grey white Sant'Agata marne, rich in sand.
A wine of great class that expresses the elegance of the territory, of a brilliant garnet red turning slightly amber with time, exuberant in its fragrance of fruit and spices, of great body, full and velvety with a long final taste of goudron and spices.
The tannic characteristics guarantee a very long life in bottle in the best vintages.
The annual production is of 12.000 bottles.

Winemaking:
Fermented in steel tanks under strict temperature control (30°C-32°C), post-fermentation maceration, racked after 22/25 days, decanted, and by maintaining the right temperature malolactic process is induced. Several months of maturation in barrels on oak, thereafter a long period in bottle to complete the aging.

Cru: Cannubi, 220 m.
Soil: Grey white marne of Sant'Agata (30% sand, 55% clay, 15% limestone)
Exposure: South/South-East
Area of the vineyard: 2,36 Ha
Year of planting: 1962/1991/2002

Ratings & Reviews

95 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine (2015 Vintage):
"Intensely fragrant, this offers enticing scents of iris, violet and rose that mix with perfumed berry and botanical herbs. It's loaded with finesse and flavor, doling out raspberry compote, crushed Morello cherry, licorice and a hint of mocha while taut, fine-grained tannins provide support. Fresh acidity keeps it impeccably balanced. Drink 2023–2035. Kerin O’Keefe" - (12/1/2019)

93 Points - Vinous (2015 Vintage):
"The 2015 Barolo Cannubi is super-polished and elegant. Rich and ample, in the style of the year, the 2015 has quite a bit of volume, but the aromatics and silky tannins are very clearly those of Cannubi. Rose petal, sweet red cherry, blood orange, spice and mint add lovely top notes. Today, the 2015 gives the impression it will drink well early and mature at a relatively fast pace." Antonio Galloni - (Feb 2019)

93 Points - James Suckling (2015 Vintage):
"A beautiful sense of resolve on the first impression with perfectly ripe red cherries taking center stage on the nose. The palate has a deliciously juicy core of fresh red cherry and berry flavor and smooth, firm and sturdy tannins. Drink or hold." - 8 Jan, 2019

93 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
(2015 Vintage):
"In increasing order of intensity and structure, we tasted Poderi Luigi Einaudi's Baroli from Cannubi, Costa Grimaldi (Terlo) and Bussia. This estate will soon add a new Barolo from the Monvigliero cru in Verduno, and that wine will probably come before Cannubi (at the start of the line) in terms of power when it is ready to be presented. The 2015 Barolo Cannubi is a finessed and light-bodied expression with a light and luminous personality that prizes red berry, cassis, blue flower and white licorice. The tannins are silky and tightly textured." - Monica Larner(28th Jun 2019)

93 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine (2015 Vintage):
"Packed with sweet ripe fruit, this remains fluid and graceful, with vibrant acidity streamlining the flavors and guiding the finish. A bit firm in the end, evoking tobacco and mint notes. Best from 2023 through 2043. 1,000 cases made, 500 cases imported." - BS (Issue Feb 29, 2020)
