Notes from the Winemaker:
The Montagne de Reims boasts some of the best Pinot Noir in the region, and Bouzy is its capital. The key to Bouzy’s inherent greatness lies in its deep, chalky subsoil which imparts intense expression of fruit and great mineral complexity in its grand cru wines. The village of Bouzy and Champagne Paul Bara are practically synonymous. Established in Bouzy in 1833, on a renowned terroir classified Grand Cru, the House of Bara has been handed down from generation to generation for more than 170 years, always respecting the traditional values of the family.
Over the decades, Bara champagne has maintained its traditional character, while evolving technologically to perfect its independence and constantly improve the quality of its production: respect of the land and environment, installation of a press, thermo-regulated vats and extension of the cellars. It is now managed by Chantale Bara, daughter of Paul Bara.

Tasting Notes:

The nose, dominated by a pastry note, expresses perfect maturity, with aromas of fruitcake and pound cake and touches of fruit jam (apricots and chutney). One can even detect a light spicy presence reminiscent of cardamon. In the mouth, it is full and generous, offering a garland of surprising flavors dominated by ripe and candied fruit that linger right up to the finish.

Ratings & Reviews

94 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous (2009 Vintage):

"The 2009 Brut Rosé Grand Cru Special Club is fabulous. Rich, powerful and authoritative, the 2009 hits all the right spots with its creamy yet focused personality. Don't let the pale-colored hue fool you, this is a serious Rosé endowed with real density and pure power. Hints of chalk, rose petal, cranberry and white pepper lift from the glass, but it is the wine's texture and overall feel that are most impressive. This is a fabulous showing. The 2009 is 65% Pinot Noir, 27% Chardonnay and 8% still Pinot. Disgorged: March 2015." - Antonio Galloni (Nov 2015)
