Notes from the Winemaker:

Very intense cherry red colour with tones of purple. Presents in the nose a great concentration of aromas of ripe red fruit with floral nuances. In the mouth it is a well structured rich wine that evokes tastes of blackberry, plum and tones of leather and vanilla, with a soft and silky tannin.

The vineyard: Mountain vineyards with an age of 35 to 60 years situated at an altitude of 600-700 meters, on stony, slimy soils with clay and limestone.

Maceration during 20-25 days in total. Fermentation in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of between 25º-30º C. The wine is submitted to an aging of 5 months in new bordelaise barrels of French oak.

Variety: 100% Grenache.

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - Stephen Tanzer:
"(fermented in a combination of French oak barrels and stainless steel tanks, then aged in French oak for ten months before bottling): Bright violet color. Heady, exotically perfumed bouquet of ripe red and dark berries, incense and candied flowers, with a smoky mineral overtone and a hint of Asian spices. Intense, deeply pitched raspberry liqueur and cherry-cola flavors stain the palate while displaying a distinctly vibrant quality. Blends power, depth and finesse in a way that's uncommon at anywhere near this price point. Closes sweet, supple and very long, with velvety tannins coming in late to add shape and gentle grip. These bush vines date back to the early 1920s and yield less than two tons of fruit per acre." - Josh Raynolds (September 2015)

91 Points & #39 Top 100 Wines of 2016 - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"A plush texture masks the firm structure of this red, as blackberry and boysenberry flavors mingle with notes of toast, menthol and mineral, backed by well-integrated tannins and juicy acidity. A modern style, with balance and depth. Drink now through 2020. 10,000 cases made." —TM (Dec. 31, 2016)

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The outstanding 2014 Tres Picos (Garnacha) is 100% Grenache and comes from some of their oldest Grenache vineyards on the slopes of the Moncayo Mountains. Yields are less than two tons of fruit per acre and this wine was aged in neutral French oak and stainless-steel tanks for ten months prior to bottling. It's a beautiful wine, with plenty of Southern Rhône-like black cherry liqueur, garrigue, pepper, licorice and spice. It is medium to full-bodied, lusty and heady. This is a beauty to drink over the next 2-3 years." - Robert M. Parker, Jr. (Nov 2015)
