Notes from the Winemaker:

Why is the Garys’ Vineyard special?
The Garys’ Vineyard is a partnership between two Garys – Gary Pisoni, the owner of the famous Pisoni Vineyard in Monterey County’s Santa Lucia Highlands and Gary Franscioni, the owner of the Rosella’s Vineyard, also in the Santa Lucia Highlands. This naturally low yielding vineyard is comprised of 42 acres of Pisoni Clone Pinot Noir and 8 acres of Syrah. Combined, the two families have over 200 years of farming experience in Monterey County.

Flavor Profiles: Garys’ Vineyard Pinot Noir
The Garys’ Vineyard produces Pinot Noir with rich blackberry and wild berry accents, with wonderful floral undertones. It is a wine of finesse and elegant silky tannins, with an ever so slight hint of spices, underlined by a pinch of white pepper.

What Does It Taste Like?

Tasting notes from winemaker Bill Brosseau:
Brilliant deep red color. This wine displays aromas of strawberry and cherry with a rich, jammy level of intensity. The aromas develop into more complexities of vanilla bean, cloves, and black pepper. The palate of the wine is highly structured with fine grape and oak tannin. Flavors of cherry and cloves carry through into the lengthy finish of this wine. While drinking young right now, this wine will continue to open and evolve with time. This wine will drink well for 7-8 years.

Ratings / Reviews:

Wine Enthusiast Magazine - 92 Points:
"This is one of the most balanced and delicious of Testarossa’s new 2006 Pinots. The vineyard is in the ternderloin of the appellation, and the wine brims with acid-brightened raspberry, cherry, cola, pomegranate and oak flavors that finish long and dry. It has the full-bodied appeal of a Santa Lucia Pinot, but maintains a certain delicacy and finesse." - May 2008

Connoisseurs’ Guide to California Wines - 92 Points:
"Cast in a somewhat riper and sturdier style than most of its siblings, this chunky, solidly fruited effort gets very good marks for its ripe-cherry focus and for its sense of substance and scale. Its more than ample fruit makes its drift to finishing heat but a minor distraction, and, given a couple of years in which to grow past its slight youthful toughness, it will both gain in complexity and find a welcome bit of refinement along the way." - June 2008

Wine Spectator Magazine - 90 Points:
"Well-structured, with ripe plum, wild berry, anise, sage and mineral notes, which give this a complex range of flavors and a backbone of acidity and tannins. Drink now through 2011." - June 2008
