About the Wine:

Each vineyard is harvested at the peak of ripeness and vinified separate from one another.Gently crushed and de-stemmed the must was transferred to fermenting tanks. Following inoculation the fermentation caps are re-submerged three times a day to engage skin-to-juice contact. The same for each lot, this extraction period took approximately 12 days. The resulting wine was pressed and racked to a combination French and American oak casks.

Blended together the wine ultimately spent 14 months in barrel before being bottled. Dark in color, the wine is displays notes of black cherry, raspberry, rhubarb, violets and cracked white pepper spice in the bouquet. Full-bodied, the wine reveals dense and juicy dark fruits in the mouth, as supple tannins melt into a lingering finish. Versatile as far as food compliments go, this Zinfandel pairs well with rotisserie chicken, baby back ribs or hearty pasta like lasagna Bolognese.

About the Vineyards:
An ideal location for the cultivation of hearty Zinfandel, Paso Robles is a historic grape-growing region that benefits from a warm and arid climate. Comprised of fruit from five distinct properties this wine showcases the uniqueness of the region. Each vineyard brings a different layer of flavor and added complexity to the wine.

About the Vintage:
There’s one word to describe California’s 2007 vintage—spectacular! Winter rainfall was lower than average, but moderate temperatures through the growing season kept the vines happy and stress-free. These conditions fostered small, concentrated grapes with intense flavors. The early spring budbreak led to an early onset of harvest in August, but then the weather cooled and prolonged ripening of late-maturing varietals into early November. The long hangtime led to rich, mature flavors.
