Notes from the Winemaker:

This rich and inviting 2008 Cabernet Sauvignon is a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Petit Verdot. Complex and elegant aromas of dark cherries and fresh red fruits abound. They are complemented by cola, brown sugar, cocoa, chaparral and cloves on the nose. The well rounded tannins are structured and framed and balance the concentrated core of fruit that echoes off the palate. Notes of tobacco and nougat finish the wine. Aged for 19 months in 70% new French oak, this wine will cellar beautifully for up to 15 years.

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Quite a good Cabernet, virgorous and dry, with an earthy edge of sweet, dried herbs alongside the blackberries and cedar. More elegant and food-friendly than many of the fruitier, high alcohol, oaky Cabs out there."  — S.H.  (6/1/2011)

91 Points -
Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Shows taut herb- and cedar-laced blackberry and wild berry flavors that firm up and give this a chewy, minerally aftertaste. Not quite up to the 2007, but impressive nonetheless. Best from 2012 through 2020. 3,210 cases made." –JL (Sep 30, 2011)

Gold Medal  - San Francisco International Wine Competition (January 2011)

This wine is on the Wine Spectator Insider "Hot Wines" list & received 94 points. Wine Spectator says of their Hot Wines List: "These are the most exciting discoveries from our editors' most recent tastings, published exclusively in Wine Spectator Insider. They are high-scoring, low-production wines from around the world that may be difficult to find, but are worth seeking out."

"Top 20 Cabs to Watch" says Wine Spectator (click to read more)

94 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine (2007 vintage):
"A tremendous effort, dense and chewy, robust and concentrated with a rich, focused core of blackberry, currant, cedar, herb and mineral. Full-bodied, gaining depth and persistence. Drink now through 2018." -JL (2010)

92 Points & "Cellar Selection" - Wine Enthusiast Magazine (2006 vintage):
A worthy followup to the 2005 bottling, the ’06 shows similarly explosive flavors of blackberries, cherries, blueberries and violets, with plenty of new oak. It’s bone dry and tightly wound in tannins now, and needs time, but should make for a fine bottle. Best 2011–2014.  - S.H.  (11/1/2009)
