Ratings & Reviews

93 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Saint Cosme assembles this wine from seven different parcels and gives it a relatively short (2 week) maceration. The result is a wine of exceptional complexity and finesse, starting with delicate herb and violet aromas. Red plum and stone fruit flavors take hold of the midpalate, yet there’s always an intriguing spice note in the background. Rich, yet fresh, with great length. Drink now–2015."  — J.C.  (11/15/2006)

93 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Deep ruby. Intense scents of blackberry, cassis and candied violet, with a strong mineral accent. Bursting with peppery dark berry flavors complemented by candied floral notes and an espresso quality. Picks up a wild, resinous herb note on the back, finishing sweet and impressively long, with a lingering suggestion of bacon." - Josh Raynolds (Jan/Feb 07)

91 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"A racy beam of black currant and boysenberry fruit, with cocoa, coffee and olive notes. Long, dark fruit- and sanguine-filled finish. Very impressive for the vintage. Drink now through 2013. 100 cases imported." –JM (Nov 15, 2006)

89-92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The floral, exotic 2004 Cote Rotie is one of the better examples I tasted in this vintage (the crop was gigantic). Its deep ruby color is followed by copious amounts of sweet raspberry fruit intermixed with pepper, herb, and toasty new oak notes. Drink it over the next 8-10 years.

Proprietor Louis Barruol is one of the two finest producers of Gigondas (his wines rival those of Yves Gras’ Santa Duc), and also has a burgeoning negociant operation dedicated to making tasty wines. Readers should note that the estate wines are bottled under the Chateau Saint-Cosme label, and the negociant wines, made from purchased wines or grapes, are simply called Saint-Cosme." - Robert Parker (Feb 2006)
