Notes From The Winemaker:

Our Pinot Noir fruit is a blend of Pommard and Dijon clones from carefully selected vineyards in the Carneros region of Napa Valley. All grapes are hand-picked at night and early mornings to keep the fruit at optimal temperatures. The fruit is then destemmed into bins and placed into open top fermenters. The fruit is cold-soaked for 3 days prior to initiating fermentation.

Once fermentation begins, each tank is punched down two to three times per day to maintain consistent contact between the must and pommace throughout fermentation. Once the wine is fermented dry it is racked to barrels for completion of malo-lactic fermentation. The wine is aged 10 months in 100% French oak of which 25% is new.

What Does It Taste Like?

Our Carneros Pinot Noir is medium-bodied with cherry, cola, plum, blueberry and light toast flavors. It is well structured and elegant, with lingering spicy/earthy notes and cherry flavors throughout the mid-palate. The vanilla and toast integrates well with the silky round tannins on the lengthy finish.

Ratings & Reviews

91 Points & "Editor's Choice" - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Tasted in a flight with far more expensive wines, this Pinot stood proud. It’s dry and richly complex, with the silk-and-satin texture you want. The flavors reward with cherries, cola, Canadian bacon, Indian spices and sandalwood. At this price, it’s a steal". - S.H.  (7/1/2010)

Great Value! August 2, 2010
Reviewer: Leo Butler from Belmont, CA United States
This pinot is a great value drinker, no food required. It has the cherry/strawberry flavors you'd expect, but there's a bit of plum in there that gives it a rounder feel than most pinot noir in this price segment. It's nice to have a pinot that you can enjoy in its own, and the Four Bears is just such a beast.
