Notes from the Winemaker:

Tasting notes:

Colour: intense ruby red
Aroma: red fruits ( plum and cherry), delicate balsamic ( mint ) and spicy (licorice) notes.
Flavour: balanced, soft and with good acidity. Structured body, delicate tannins.
Serving temperature:18-20 °C

Vintage:
The evolution of autumn and winter was characterized by the presence of rainfalls and low temperatures. This favored good water reserves.
Spring was quite mild, the nice days and the high temperatures favoured the development of the canapy and clusters.
From June onwards temperatures reached the highest peaks. The following months were characterized by a lack of summer rainfalls that favored an ideal maturation of the grapes.
The harvest of Negroamaro continued until the second decade of September.

Grapes: Selection of Negroamaro grapes from both head- trained and cordon- spur vineyards in Masseria Maime Estate.

Production:
The grapes were harvested between 15 and 25 September, slightly overripe in order to enhance their phenolic potential. After the crushing, fermentation occurred in stainless steel tanks at a temperature between 26 and 28 °C. The following maceration, handled with rémontages and délestages, that help a gradual extraction, lasted 15-18 days. After the racking, the wine was transferred in French and Hungarian barriques where the malolactic fermentation occurred. The must was aged for 9 months in wood before being bottled. It was released after 12 months after being refined in glass.

Alcohol level:
14% vol.
