Notes from the Winemaker:

Fabulous everyday wine, refreshing, lively, light bodied, with a hint of sweetness.  Perfect wine for having friends over, cocktail hour, by the pool, or after a long day at work.  Lush flavors of pineapple and honeydew melon with a pleasing citrus finish.  All estate grown grapes, 80% Stainless aged along with 20% French Oak.

Kali Hart Talbott is the youngest of the Talbott children and, like her, the wine portrays the youthful and vibrant personality of its namesake. Fruit for Kali Hart Chardonnay was harvested from our vineyards located in Monterey County. The grapes were hand sorted and lightly pressed and then fermented in French Oak and Stainless steel.

Kali Hart is named for Robb’s youngest daughter, Kalin Hart. First introduced in 1999 (1997 vintage), the style of this wine is meant to showcase regional characteristics of the cool growing area of Monterey County.

WINEMAKING
• 100% Chardonnay, Alcohol 14.6, pH 3.41, TA .67
• Lightly pressed into a combination of French oak (10% new), and stainless steel tanks
• Cool, slow fermentation
• Full malolactic fermentation
• Aged sur lie for eight months

What Does It Taste Like?

This Chardonnay is light straw in color with a youthful greenish hue and excellent clarity. The rich, inviting nose shows bright tropical fruit notes. This vibrant tropical fruit continues on the palate with flavors of pineapple and honeydew melon, complemented by refreshing acidity. A generous mid-palate gives way to a bright focused finish with citrus elements of lemon and tangerine and mineral notes. Kali Hart Chardonnay is intended to be enjoyed within two to four years.

Ratings & Reviews:

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Take, for example, the 2008 Chardonnay Kali Hart. It displays loads of poached pear, pineapple, and honey in an impressively perfumed bouquet. In the mouth, it is soft, fleshy, and medium-bodied, with just enough acidity to give it balance. It is a fruity, consumer-friendly style of Chardonnay to drink over the next year.

This is the most impressive lineup of wines I have seen from Talbott in a number of years. Their less expensive second label is a noteworthy value." - Robert Parker (8/2010)

90 Points & " EDITOR'S CHOICE" - Wine Enthusiast Magazine (v. 2007):
"This is a sort of second tier wine from Talbott. It’s a strongly flavored Chardonnay and extremely ripe, with pineapple jam, apricot-infused crème brûlée and sweet vanilla-butterscotch flavors. But for all the richness, it’s crisp and bone dry."  - S.H.  (5/1/2009)

Wine Spectator Magazine (v. 2007):
"Rich full bodied with a broad range of complex flavors, ranging from grapefruit and citrus, to fig and honeysuckle, even a dash of pineapple. Drink now." -JL

Beverage Dynamics - 4+ out of 5 Stars - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED (v. 2007):
"Smooth, easy; light on the oak with hints of ripe pear and balanced acidity." -W. Blake
