Tasting Notes:

Deep crimson hued and fragrant with ripe raspberry, cocoa and anise, this is a weighty, richly textured malbec.  A velvety palate unfolds with black and red fruits in a tight weave, as subtle notes of caramel and graphite add intrigue, complementing  the  supple tannins over a lengthy finish.  Alcohol 14.9%

About this Wine:

The wines of Viña Cobos are the result of a shared dream inspired by the passion of California winemaker Paul Hobbs and two winemaking partners, Andrea Marchiori and Luis Barraud, who come from a wine producing culture deeply rooted in European tradition. Paul Hobbs first became acquainted with Argentina in 1989, and was immediately intrigued with the Argentinean terroir and culture, sensing a unique potential for malbec and other varietals in the region. The inaugural vintage of Viña Cobos Malbec received the highest score to date for any Argentine wine upon its release in 2002. Since then, Paul and his Argentine partners have grown their portfolio of ultra-premium wines, which continue to receive even greater accolades.

The Felinos exhibit a great balance of pure, concentrated fruit, lively acidity and smooth tannins. Our Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, and Chardonnay are vibrant, mouth-filling wines that pair exceptionally well with food.

Ratings & Reviews

92 Points - Wine & Spirits Magazine:
""This selection of malbec comes from several mountain zones in Mendoza between altitudes of 2,300 and 3,800 feet. The blend is lively and delicious, with seductively ripe raspberry flavors that hold their freshness within the creamy texture. An elegant malbec."

91 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine
"Potent Malbec with aromas of leather, bacon, blackberry and smoke. It’s thick and dense, but well balanced, with flavors of blackberry, cola, pepper and nutmeg. More smooth and easy than complex, with a long, creamy, sweet finish that cements the wine’s character. Probably the best Felino Malbec to date, and a good value at 20 bucks." — M.S.  (12/31/2010)

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2008 vintage):

"Purple color; floral notes, black cherry and blueberry; layered, velvety-textured, over-delivers." - Jay Miller (Dec 2010)
