About This Wine:
The Crozes Rouge is produced from very old vines situated on a steep hillside vineyard, facing south-southwest, overlooking the village of Mercurol. It is a relatively recent acquisition by Bécheras (2006). The grapes are manually harvested, destemmed and fermented for about three weeks. The elevage is in “demi-muids” (400 to 600 liters). The wine is bottled after 18 months and is neither fined nor filtered. Annual production averages 1200 bottles.

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2015 Crozes Hermitage le Clos is the high-end Crozes bottling from Delas Frères, aged 14-16 months in French oak. Give it some time in the glass to open up if you try one soon, as it's tight and closed at first, gradually developing floral notes and showing more black cherry and blackberry fruit. In the mouth, it's velvety and concentrated, gradually fading on the finish into hints of licorice and black pepper. This medium to full-bodied 100% Syrah drinks well now (with air) but should evolve well for at least another decade." - Joe Czerwinski (29th Dec 2017)

92 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous Media:
"(one-third new oak) Lurid ruby. Powerful aromas of dark berry liqueur, pungent flowers and smoky minerals pick up a hint of incense with aeration. Silky and expansive on the palate, offering ripe, spice-tinged blackberry and cherry flavors and a touch of spicecake. Closes on a sweet violet pastille note, featuring impressive persistence, supple tannins and an echo of peppery spices." - Josh Raynolds (Apr 2018)

97 Points - Jeb Dunnuck:
"The finest vintage to date, better even than the stellar 2010, the 2015 Crozes-Hermitage Domaine De Thalabert is a gorgeous, deep, layered, and incredibly satisfying Crozes. Blackcurrants, olive tapenade, truffles and earthy notes all emerge from this full-bodied, gorgeously textured and seamless 2015. With fine tannin and no hard edge, it can be drunk today or cellaring for 15-20 years." (1/2018)

92-94 Points - Antonio Galloni:
"(made from vines that range from 40 to 60 years old; raised for a year in oak barrels, 20 percent of them new) Youthful violet. Powerful mineral- and spice-accented blue fruit liqueur and violet aromas are complemented by suggestions of licorice and white pepper. Concentrated and expansive on the palate, offering intense blueberry, cherry and spicecake flavors and an exotic Indian spice quality that builds on the back half. Shows excellent clarity and lift on the finish, which is framed by velvety, harmonious tannins that fold smoothly into the juicy dark fruit." (4/2017)

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2015 Cornas Domaine de Saint Pierre is a full-bodied, concentrated wine that brings the essence of Cornas to the bottle in its scents of crushed stones and firm, tannic finish. Hints of toasted almond and mocha give it a gloss of modernity, but its red plum fruit, hints of iron or blood, and sturdy feel bring it right back to the appellation's granite slopes." -Joe Czerwinski (Dec 2017)

"Crisp black-plum and bramble notes are accented by pepper, char and anise in this lean, briskly composed Syrah. It's concentrated but spry, framed by grippy but finely edged tannins and a firm, granitic finish. Drink now through 2025." - ANNA LEE C. IIJIMA (September 2018)

94 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Intense, with dark currant, fig and blackberry confiture flavors forming the core. Youthfully tight, featuring notes of ganache, warm tobacco and dark earth draped over the finish. Shows rivets of acidity throughout, with a beautiful hint of bay leaf at the very end. Should age wonderfully. Best from 2020 through 2030. 795 cases made." – JM (Aug 31, 2018)

"The full-bodied 2015 Saint Joseph les Granits is among the top wines of the appellation. Bursting with cassis, mocha and spice, it boasts a rich, creamy texture on the mid-palate, easing into a velvety finish backed by plentiful, powerful tannins. This may seem almost approachable, but patience will be rewarded." - Joe Czerwinski (Dec 2017)

90 Points - Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"(95% marsanne and 5% roussanne): Light yellow. Intense, mineral-laced citrus fruit and green apple aromas, with complicating jasmine and anise notes adding pungency. Brisk and mineral-driven on the palate, with incisive pear skin and Meyer lemon flavors showing good depth. Closes with strong cut and length, leaving smoky mineral and floral notes behind." - Josh Raynolds (Mar/Apr 2014)

91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"As we tasted the 2015 Crozes Hermitage, Philippe Guigal said, "It's rare we get full phenolic ripeness in Crozes. We got that in 2015." The wine's silky tannins certainly support his claim. It's medium to full-bodied, with raspberry, cherry and black olive aromas and flavors that scream of the variety, and it has a long finish. It's an outstanding value and a wine that may be happily consumed anytime from now through 2025. - Joe Czerwinski (Oct 2018)
