91 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2016 Etna Rosso Contrada Rampante shows girth and power to the mid-palate. This is a dense and fleshed-out red wine from Etna made with fruit from 90-year-old vines. However, like other expressions from this vintage, I found there to be a lot of immediate intensity up front, with less persistence and fiber in the long run. This seems to be a shared characteristic of 2016. Some 5,000 bottles were made." - Monica Larner (28th Dec 2018)

93+ Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"Fully saturated deep ruby. Leafy nuances and notes of sassafras dominate the deep but youthfully reticent dark red fruit on the nose. Then smooth and dense, with forward flavors of red cherry, dark plum, cassis, and aromatic herbs. Finishes very long and spicy, with peppery tannins and building complexity. For maximum enjoyment, put this away in the cellar and open it in three to four years only. This is a blend of Carignano, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon." - Ian D'Agata (Oct 2016)

"Good full, deep red. Aromas of spicy dark plum, licorice and botanical herbs. Supple and fresh, with a slightly medicinal, savory cast to the flavors of plum, tobacco leaf, and leather. Finishes with supple tannins, a subtle resiny quality and very good length. (13.5% alcohol)" - Ian D'Agata (Sep 2017)

"Love the rich aromas of dried fruits (like dried strawberries). Hints of cedar and sandalwood as well. Full-bodied, layered and tannic with fantastic depth and intensity. Needs two or three years to soften. Beautiful wine. From vines planted on Etna hillsides 80 to 100 years ago! Try in 2020." - (November 22, 2016)
