92-95 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"There is a subtle whiff of exoticism to the elegant and ultra-fresh aromas of honeysuckle, tangerine skin, pear compote and spice. Once again there is a terrific sense of energy to the racy, intense and gorgeously refined middle weight flavors that culminate in a highly refined, balanced and sneaky long finale. This is textbook Pucelles that should age effortlessly." - (Jun 15, 2018)

93 Points - James Suckling:
"A beautiful and complex red with flowers, dark fruits, citrus and spice character. Full body, firm tannins and a bright finish. Tight and dense. Seamless and very pretty. A nice blend of different vineyards of Corton. Better in 2017." - (June 17, 2015)

About This Wine:
The domaine of Etienne Sauzet is made up of 26 acres, much of it in the heart of the premier crus vineyards of Puligny-Montrachet.

Gérard Boudot, owner and winemaker of Domaine Sauzet, is seeking "maximum finesse and an individual expression of the climat." M. Boudot, who married the granddaughter of the late Etienne Sauzet, runs the domaine and has modernized and improved the vinification, making the wines of this domaine among the most sought-after white wines of Burgundy.

Antonio Galloni's Vinous Media:
"Bright medium red, a bit darker than the Gevrey-Chambertin Clos du Château. Darker, spicier and more complex on the nose, conveying a suggestion of Brochon power. A step up in energy and clarity as well, offering lovely density and cut to its raspberry and spice flavors. Finishes classically dry, firmly structured and long. As impressive an early showing as I can recall for this village wine chez Rousseau." - Stephen Martin (Jan 2017)

94-97 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous Media:
"Saturated ruby-red. Aromatic and very pure but restrained on the nose, offering high-pitched aromas of dark raspberry, black cherry, flowers, spices and minerals. Impressively concentrated and dense yet light on its feet, with its very intense flavors of dark fruits, spices and flowers enlivened by saline tension. Almost painful in the middle palate in the early going, this wine finishes with firm but suave tannins and outstanding lingering perfume. Méo did not add SO2 in the fermenter because this wine often has "reduction issues." With its fruit of steel, this beauty should enjoy a long life in bottle." - Stephen Tanzer (Jan 2018)

Allen Meadows' Burghound (2015 Vintage):
"A ripe but cool and pretty nose combines notes of various white orchard fruit aromas with those of soft iodine and citrus whiffs. There is good vibrancy and volume to the delicious and attractively textured medium weight flavors that offer reasonable depth and persistence though the balance isn't quite perfect as there is a discernible hint of warmth. Overall this is a good if not special example of the genre that should be a good candidate for early drinking." (Oct 11. 2017)

97 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"The 2012 Chablis Blanchot jumps from the glass with serious intensity, power and pure texture. A wine of unusual volume and resonance, the 2012 clearly reflects the unique personality of a vintage in which yields were down 50%. The 2012 is a dizzying, totally vertical wine endowed with stunning depth and tons of breed. In a word: captivating." - Antonio Galloni (Aug 2014)

92+ Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"Bright red-ruby. Aromas of cherry, licorice, menthol and fresh herbs are given further punch by pungent minerality. Juicy but a bit youthfully clenched, showing less fat than the 2015 version. The flavors of black cherry and licorice are quite penetrating but the wine's serious tannins call for considerable aging. This wine was only bottled in mid-June of 2016, after having spent three months in stainless steel tanks." - Stephen Tanzer (Mar 2017)

93 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"A dense nose features notes of very ripe plum, cassis, violet, spice, earth and tea nuances that are trimmed in moderate wood and menthol notes. There is excellent intensity and power to the concentrated middle weight plus flavors that possess an abundance of dry extract that pushes the very firm core of tannins to the background on the moderately austere, complex and wonderfully long finish. This is solidly well-balanced and while it's quite firm it's not hard or rustic." (Jan 2016)

95 Points - Allen Meadows' Burghound:
"Here the nose is compositionally similar to that of the regular cuvée but as is usually the case it is more reserved, more complex and the wood treatment is more subtle. There is notably better concentration to the impressively rich, powerful and muscular big-bodied flavors are shaped by dense but relatively fine tannins on the wonderfully long, balanced and again youthfully austere finale. This terrific effort is really most impressive though note well that it is going to need at least 10 years of bottle age and reward 15 to 18." - (Jan 15, 2017)
