Rank #88 Top 100 of 2011, 94 Points & "Hot Wine" - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Offers an aromatic mix of kirsch, dried roses, dried marjoram, blackberry candy, cardamom, fresh earth and smoke, with supple tannins and ripe acidity. There’s power to this, but it’s wrapped in a silky texture that results in an overall vibrant, stylish impression. A hint of espresso lingers on the finish. Drink now through 2024. From Italy."—A.N. 95 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous Media:
"The 2001 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Riserva della Mattonara bursts from the glass with endless layers of silky fruit. White flowers, French oak, new leather and spices blossom as the wine opens up. A super-refined, insistent finish leaves a strong impression. The Riserva della Mattonara is 40% Corvina, 30% Corvinone, 15% Rondinella, 10% Oseleta and 5% Croatina. The wine was fermented in cement vats and spent a whopping nine years in a combination of casks and smaller barrels. Today the French oak is a bit dominant. As good as the 2001 Riserva is, it can't quite match the 2006 Harlequin, the wine that remains the pinnacle of achievement at Zyme." - Antonio Galloni (February 2011)

94 Points & Cellar Selection - Wine Enthusiast:
"Cocoa, baked plum, toast, culinary spice and leather aromas shape the nose. Full bodied and elegant, the smooth, dense palate doles out fleshy black cherry, blackberry jam, licorice and clove while velvety tannins provide structure. It closes on an espresso note. Drink through 2027." - Kerin O’Keefe (3/1/2019)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2013 Vintage):
"The 2013 Primofiore is a 50% blend of the indigenous grapes Corvina and Corvinone with 50% of the international grapes Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc. The grapes are air-dried for one month before being put into barrel for a year or more of aging. The wine opens to easy aromas of dark fruit, button mushroom, spice, tar and grilled herb. This is an upfront, food-friendly wine that has the crispness and delineation to pair with pasta or meat dishes. It should last healthily over the next five to eight years." - Monica Larner (31st May 2017)

“Complex and beautiful aromas of blackberry, spice and coffee follow through to a full body and silky and polished tannins. Intense fruit is tied into a firm and polished tannin backbone. Beautiful now but better in 2019.” (October 20, 2017)

94 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2013 Amarone della Valpolicella Classico Vigneto Monte Sant'Urbano is a full-bodied red wine that offers a deep range of air-dried aromatic characteristics with prune, raisin, dark spice and exotic cedar wood or mesquite. The house blend at Speri sees Corvina Veronese and Corvinone in a leading role, with 29% Rondinella and 5% Molinara. The grapes are set aside in the fruttaio to dry for over 100 days, resulting in a 15% alcohol content. Overall, this expression from a slightly cooler vintage shows great balance with a touch of freshness that cuts though the texture and sweet softness of the finish. Some 90,000 bottles were made." - Monica Larner (Sept 2019)

"A floral Amarone that shows lavender, violets, orange peel, citrus and vanilla. Very round, mouth-filling and flavorful. So juicy and spicy throughout. From organically grown grapes. Drink now or hold."
