91 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine (2009 vintage):
"A very rich white, with concentrated flavors of apple pastry, peach cobbler, ripe pear and cream. Luscious as well, with delicious lemon zest and jellied citrus accents. Tropical fruit notes linger on the long, broad finish. Best after 2016. 20 cases imported." –KM (Dec 15, 2011)

90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Dry, crisp, fresh and incredibly fragrant, this sparkling wine is a terrific bargain. The good news is there are around 4,000 cases of it, although I do not know how much is imported by Kermit Lynch. Drink it over the next year. Kermit Lynch is one of the most meticulous importers in terms of shipping wines properly, but it would be nice to see a vintage, release, or bottling date on these bottles.

This cuvee may qualify as the “wine bargain of the year.” A Champagne-like sparkling rose from the largely forgotten area of Bugey (which only received appellation status in 2009), this low alcohol (8%) offering is made from 90% Gamay and 10% Poulsard (an indigenous grape of the region)." - Robert Parker (Feb 2012)

Tasting Notes:
Sinewy and graceful, minerally with plenty of ravishing botrytis. It is a habit-forming aperitif that marries better with cheeses than most reds. The French are known to admire it with Sunday’s roast chicken.

89-90 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2009 vintage):
"The Champalou 2009 Vouvray Cuvee Moelleuse - a moelleux, as its name suggests, and last tasted by me from tank - is scented with faded lily, candied citrus rind, quince jelly, along with a faint prickle of botrytis and pungent residues of yeast. It fills the mouth with diverse, lusciously sweet, almost over-ripe melons, and quince preserves tinged with mocha and salted caramel. Displaying a levity and balanced sweetness hard to achieve in botrytis wines of its vintage, it finishes long and refined, if without any mineral dimension or interactive sense of complexity. But this could gain considerable interest on the way to bottle, and almost certainly will prove worth following for a dozen or more years." - David Schildknecht (Aug 2010)

95 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Intense, with racy quince, green fig, mirabelle plum and yellow apple fruit zipping through, all while keeping an unctuous hint at the same time thanks to the sweet edge. The long finish has lovely tension and cut. A very focused, pure dessert wine. Drink now through 2040. 76 cases imported." – JM (Web Only - 2017)
