This year's list of my Top 100 Wines focuses mainly on key themes I found during my tastings and reports on JamesSuckling.com over the last 10 months, including the great 2010 Brunellos, exciting 2012 super Tuscans, top Spanish reds and whites, as well as the superb wines of Chile, Argentina and Alsace. It also includes a number of great wines from New Zealand, Australia, and Champagne tasted by contributing editor Nick Stock.

In all, JamesSuckling.com reviewed close to 9,000 wines to create this formidable list of the Top 100 Wines in 2015. I tasted more than 7,500 wines myself and visited various regions in France, Italy, Chile, Argentina, Spain, and the United States. I was on the road for about six months this year visiting wineries and wine producers. I tried to include wines in the list that were released on the market this year; therefore, I didn't list some highly-scored wines that I reviewed, including barrel samples such as 2014 Bordeaux and Burgundy, and wines aging in bottle in cellars for future release, such as 2010 Brunello di Montalicno Riservas. The later will be considered for my 2016 Top 100 Wines list.

This year, I tried to focus on relative value and quantity for the first 10 wines in the list of my Top 100 wines. All the wines can be found for $70 a bottle or less, according to Wine-Searcher. And there appears to be stock in the marketplace. I rated all the wines at least 96 points.

98-100 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"The 2017 Vintage Port, not quite bottled when seen but the final blend, is a field blend aged for approximately 20 months in wood. It comes in with 100 grams of residual sugar. A step up (or two) on the 2016, this shows fine depth, more focus, vivid fruit and serious power. It's not particularly thick, austere or astringent, but this is built for the long haul. It is potentially a great Taylor's, effortlessly combining brilliant fruit and structure. It tastes great now (today, it is far more vivid than its Vinha Velha sibling), but the power makes this hard to drink today. So, have some patience. It will need some time, probably a lot more than indicated, and will likely last longer than indicated as well. As noted in the accompanying article, I don't see much point to impossibly long drinking windows. At some point, reevaluation is required." - Mark Squires (11th Jul 2019)

97 Points - James Suckling:
"Fabulous aromas of dark berries and granite. Flowers and sliced raw meat too. Full-bodied and velvety with incredible length. Clearly the best syrah of Chile. Very exciting. A great year for syrah with a long hang time. Aged for 18 months in new French oak that is imperceptible. Drink now." - (July 6th, 2015)

"This is a powerful and rich red with so much density and power yet there's an underlying freshness and energy. Hints of vanilla and walnuts. Full body, chewy tannins and a flavorful finish. Better in 2022 but impressive already." - (18 Feb, 2018)

95 Points & #59 Top 100 Wines of 2019 - Wine Spectator:
"Rich, robust and lusciously spiced, with concentrated dark cherry, plum and boysenberry flavors supported by fresh acidity. Intense midpalate minerality is followed by a finish loaded with chocolate and cream notes. Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot. Drink now through 2024. 4,500 cases made, 500 cases imported." — KM

100 Points & #4 Top 100 Wines of 2018 - James Suckling:
"OMG. This is really the most amazing young Taylor's I have ever tasted. Full-bodied and lightly sweet with super power and intensity. So racy and focused. Yet this has such muscle and intensity. Needs at least eight years to show you everything it has to offer. Drink in 2025." (Nov 2018)

98 Points & #23 Top 100 Wines of 2018 - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"This is packed with raspberry, blackberry and blueberry fruit flavors that play off one another, melding with anise, fruitcake and ganache notes. A warm tarry edge coats the finish, revealing an echo of bramble. A seriously grippy, strapping Port, this revels in its power. Best from 2032 through 2055. 6,200 cases made." — JM

98 Points Rank #66 Top 100 Wines of 2017 - James Suckling:
"A stunning wine for this vintage although it’s still a bit shy on the nose (more spice than fruit showing than now). There’s wet earth, too, but on the palate it’s bursting with ripe yet subtle flavors. Very long and complex finish that goes on and on." - (Feb 2017)

97 Points - James Suckling:
"Aromas of warm stones, dark fruits and walnuts follow to a full body, soft tannins and a savory finish. This shows ripe fruit and salty undertones that give it a wonderful juiciness. It's dense and tight now but will give so much pleasure in the future. Best ever from here. Drink or hold." - (January 19th, 2015)

98+ Points - Antonio Galloni:
"The 2008 Dom Pérignon is fabulous, but quite remarkably, it was even more open when I tasted it a year ago. Bright, focused and crystalline in its precision, the 2008 is going to need a number of years before it is at its best. Lemon peel, white flowers, mint and white pepper give the 2008 its chiseled, bright profile. Several recent bottles have all been magnificent. What I admire most about the 2008 is the way it shows all the focus, translucence and energy that is such a signature of the year, and yet it is also remarkably deep and vertical. In other words, the 2008 is a Champagne that plays in three dimensions." - Antonio Galloni (Jul 2018)
