94 Points - Jeb Dunnuck (2016 Vintage):
"Slightly more expensive, the 2016 Bastgen Kestener Paulinshofberg Riesling Spätlese is another beautiful wine from this estate. Clean, crisp notes of white peach, lime pith, crushed mint, and beautiful, building minerality all give way to a medium-bodied Spätlese that has rocking purity of fruit, a seamless texture, and bright, integrated acidity that shines on the finish." - Jeb Dunnuck (3/27/2019)

Best Buy - Wine & Spirits Magazine:
"There’s a tension between this wine’s honeyed apricot flavors and its lightly bitter pear-skin grip that might resolve with time in the bottle, or with a chunk of creamy goat cheese." - (February 2020)

96 Points - James Suckling:
"Tangerine dream but also all kinds of berries and some wild herbs make this an irresistible wine. Then comes the stunning balance of aromatic sweetness and vibrant acidity with a finish that's like a waterfall cascading over rocks in the tropics. Should continue to impress through through 2050." - (2 Aug, 2017)

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"Vinified in stainless steel, the 2018 Riesling Scharzhof (AP #1) is clear, ripe and quite intense on the nose that displays a delicate flinty bouquet. On the palate, this is an intensely fruity and quite rich Riesling that tastes nearly dry. Bottled in late February with 28 grams per liter of residual sugar and 10.5% alcohol, the 2018 is not as crystalline and fine as I remember older vintages. It's pretty charming already. Tasted in June 2019." - Stephan Reinhardt (30th Aug 2019)

92 Points - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate (2017 Vintage):
"Predominantly from the Zeltinger Himmelreich, the 2017 Riesling Kabinett is bright and subtle on the ripe, fruity, slightly mineral and herbal, very elegant and refined nose with its delicate slate aromas. Salty-piquant and fresh on the aromatic and fruity but lithe and crystalline palate, this is another Mosel Kabinett at its best. The sweetness of less than 30 grams per liter is just charming here, where it is combined with 9.5% alcohol. This is a highly stimulating, fresh and grippy Kabinett that you can enjoy even in the sun at 35 degrees Celsius. Almost 20,000 bottles produced. Tasted in March 2019." - Stephan Reinhardt (28th Jun 2019)

Tasting Notes:
“Even this “basic” Pinot Noir (from a light-ish vintage) is marrowy, grown up and charming; a slim line of fruit, pleasant tannin, god length, a high juicy charm-factor but not merely charming; the black-cherry foreground is supported by good tertiary flavors.” Terry Theise

90 Points - Wine Enthusiast (2016 Vintage):
"Buoyant primary aromas of sunny peach and tangerine are juxtaposed against deep reverberating slate and flint in this gorgeously balanced Kabinett. It's lusciously textured but spine-tingling with acidity. The finish is long, lingering on warm spice tones. Drink now through 2020." - (October 2017)

Notes from the Winemaker:
The 2015 St. Nikolaus Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese has a great golden color with a concentrated peach flavor with hints of pineapple and tropical fruits. The finish is very long and intense.

"Sonnenuhr" means sundial. The vineyard is facing the small town of Wehlen, located in the middle of a long steep curved slate slope on the Mosel, with a south-southwest exposure.
The wine exhibits a fresh fruity bouquet of peach and apricots with honey and spicy notes. Strong, sweet and long flavors. Elegant, full bodied and luscious wine with good minerality and acidity on the palate.

89 Points - Wine Enthusiast Magazine (2017 Vintage):
"Smoky mineral tones and a pleasantly waxy tinge lend elegance to exuberant grapefruit and lemon in this fresh, forward kabinett. It's approachably semisweet on the palate yet crisply balanced in acidity. The finish is thirst quenching and long, marked by a lacy veil of sugar on the tongue." - (4/1/2019)
