96 Points - James Suckling:
"This shows a beautiful complexity of ripe fruit such as cherries as well as orange peel undertones with lemon and pineapple highlights. Medium body and well-defined tannins. Drink in 2020." - (July 12, 2017)

93 Points & "Editors’ Choice" - Wine Enthusiast Magazine:
"Delivering classic, impeccable style, this textbook Barolo opens with aromas of red berry, forest floor, crushed herb, rose and a whiff of dark spice. Vibrant and elegant, the palate boasts great energy, offering red cherry, raspberry compote, white pepper and clove framed in tightly knit but refined tannins and firm acidity. A star anise note closes the linear, lingering finish. Drink 2023–2035." - Kerin O’Keefe (9/1/2017)

91 Points - Antonio Galloni's Vinous:
"Burlotto's 2014 Barolo is delicate, gracious and very pretty. Floral and supremely inviting, it is a fabulous wine for the year, and the midweight, perfumed style of the vintage comes through loud and clear. In 2014, Burlotto did not make their Barolo Acclivi. Instead, all of the wine that would have gone into that blend went into this, the entry-level bottling, which is a testament to Fabio Alessandria's commitment to delivering not just quality but also value among his more affordable wines." - Antonio Galloni (Feb 2018)

95 Points - Wine Spectator Magazine:
"Notes of cinnamon, cherry, sandalwood and vanilla introduce this dense, brooding red. Darker fruit flavors of black cherry and plum mingle with leather, tobacco and spice details as this plays out on the palate. Powerful and complex, yet needs time to absorb the new oak. Best from 2023 through 2042. From Italy." - BS (Dec 2018)

97 Points Robert Parker's Wine Advocate:
"This wine blew me away. The 2009 Barolo Riserva Granbussia is a proud achievement and an expression of rare beauty. This wine will be released this fall, some nine years after the harvest. Only 3,000 bottles were produced. The Granbussia narrative is one of elegance and refinement. The fruit comes from two vineyard parcels in the greater Bussia cru and was co-fermented (instead of being blended after malolactic fermentation). So much fruit was dropped during the summer growing cycle that the harvest came later than usual. This allowed for slow, even ripening and a deeper sense of aromatic complexity that you immediately identify here. The nose is redolent of wet earth and autumnal leaf with white truffle and forest berry. The wine offers extreme Nebbiolo purity with anise seed, tar and licorice." - Monica Larner (Jun 2018)

Winemaking:
Traditional-style, floating cap fermentation at a controlled temperature of selected, thinned estate-grown grapes. Unoaked, stabilized in inert tank.

Tasting notes:
Colour: deep ruby-red tending to violet; Nose: winey, strong, fruity, varietal; Taste: very dry, typically bitterish, intense, elegant, well-balanced, full of personality and stuffing; a big wine.
Pairings:
This wine can be served throughout a meal, but is particularly recommended with red and white meats in general, soups, pasta and risottos.

Deep ruby red in colour with a slight orange edge. Harmonious, well-balanced aroma, a pleasant blend of floral, fruity and soft spicy scents, with a finish of rose, violet and vanilla. Fresh, lively bouquet, with harmonious tannins and alcohol and balanced acidity. Soft, elegant and full-bodied with a very long aftertaste. Redolent of freshly macerated red berries, raspberry and redcurrant. Goes well with robust roasts and hard, well-aged cheeses.
Serving temperature: 17°C.

Stephen Tanzer's International Wine Cellar:
"Bright fresh red.  Crushed sour cherry, licorice, spearmint and thyme on the slightly reduced nose.  Intensely flavored and vibrant, with a dominant flavor of bitter cherry.  Fresh, varietally accurate dolcetto in a masculine style." - Stephen Tanzer (Nov/Oct '11)
